Restoration Update

May 2010

Works on the Barge Canal are nearing completion. There are a few outstanding works that require completion before we can open it for navigation, once complete we will open the Barge Canal hopefully later this year.

Unfortunately the full “ring” will not be opened until next year. The partners are working hard to resolve the final issues. Once we have dates for the opening they will be advertised through the partnership, local, regional and nation press outlets.

In the mean time the towpaths are open, please come and take a look. If you want to get involved we still have a volunteer programme, please contact; suzanne.byrne@britishwaterways.co.uk
