Local and National Meetings
Local User Group meetings
A considerable amount of local consultation happens verbally at meetings arranged by British Waterways and others. Local User Group meetings are published in each of our waterways units, please use the navigation bar on the right to browse British Waterways User Group Meetings in your area.
National User Group meetings
The Waterway User & Special Interest Group
The Waterway User & Special Interest Group (WUSIG) is the forum at which representatives of both boating and non boating organisations meet each other and senior managers of British Waterways to discuss waterway matters of both general interest and specific topical relevance. It complements at national level, the local user and customer meeting held in each of BW's waterway units.
Around thirty groups are invited to send a representative. Also invited are representatives of the waterways press. The meeting is chaired by Jeff Whyatt, a BW Senior Waterway Manager and its secretary is BW's Stephanie Woolhead, a Waterways Administrator. Both Vince Moran and Simon Salem, the BW directors responsible for customer operations and marketing and customer service respectively, attend as does Sally Ash head of boating development. They value these discussion sessions which provide good customer feedback and are an important element in BW's consultations.
The Waterway User & Special Interest Group meets twice a year, usually in a central location. The agenda for each meeting is shaped by all attending and notes of the meetings are posted here.
