Enhancing Our Waterway Environment

Brent Reservoir

Lying just a few minutes from the busy North Circular, much of the site at Brent Reservoir, or the Welsh Harp as it is commonly known, has been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest. This is on account of its breeding wetland birds, and particularly for the significant numbers of great crested grebe. With the aid of a recent Heritage Lottery Fund award, British Waterways London is now working jointly with neighbouring local authorities and the Welsh Harp Conservation Group to improve and create new wildlife habitats, extend existing access, and enhance recreational facilities in the area.

Biodiversity Action Plan

Working in partnership with various organisations, British Waterways London is part of the London Biodiversity Partnership which has been set up to protect and conserve London's natural heritage. For more information download the strategy plan or visit the GLA website.
