The Iron Trunk Aqueduct on the Grand Union Canal has reached the final round of The People’s Millions 2011 public vote. If it wins it will receive a grant of £60,000 and return the aqueduct to its former glory.

Ruth Ruderham has been appointed as the first ever head of fundraising for the New Waterways Charity, which will manage the canals and rivers in England and Wales. This latest announcement follows last week’s news that transition trustees have been selected for the charity, which is expected to launch in 2012.

The founding trustees have been appointed for the new waterways charity that will take over the running of British Waterways’ canals, rivers and docks in England and Wales from April 2012. Working closely with British Waterways’ Board until the new charity takes control, the eight trustees bring a wealth of senior level experience of managing heritage, volunteering, leisure, boating and commercial interests.
