A Golden Opportunity For The Olympics

In 2004, following the decision for London to bid to host the 2012 Olympic Games, British Waterways issued A Golden Opportunity to a range of Olympic decision-makers to raise awareness of the waterways' potential to contribute to a green and sustainable Olympic bid. The document highlighted the benefits that the restored Bow Back Rivers could bring to the Games, local people, wildlife and transport, and many of its recommendations are now embedded in the regeneration strategies for the Lower Lea Valley.
