New Life For Bow Back Rivers
In May 2002, British Waterways announced that the Bow Back Rivers would be one of its nine national restoration priorities. New Life for Bow Back Rivers was produced in 2003, and set out a range of restoration options for the waterways.
The document highlighted the strategic location of the Bow Back Rivers alongside major regeneration areas and called for a coherent masterplan involving all the relevant organisations to maximise the future role of the rivers in the regeneration of East London. This ambition has to a large extent now been fulfilled by London's Olympic plans and Thames Gateway strategies.
