Crinan Sealock

Navigation lights are essential to any boat user and at the Ardrishaig Sealock the main entrance to the Crinan Canal from Lochgilphead we have installed photovoltaic powered navigation lights. Photovoltaic lights convert sunlight directly into electricity. The installation of these Photovoltaic navigation lights had a double benefit to British Waterways as they avoided an expensive replacement of faulty cable and the problems of replacing lights in a difficult environment. The new lights have an eight year life guarantee and are fully compliant with standards for navigation lights.
