Protocol approved for Inverness canal bridges

An improved protocol to manage the opening times for the canal swing bridges at Tomnahurich and Muirtown, Inverness was approved at The Highland Council's TEC Services Committee on 19 March. The protocol will be implemented by British Waterways Scotland this spring.

British Waterways has launched a UK-wide wildlife photography competition urging everyone to take snaps of dragonflies and damselflies - the dragons o' the water! The competition is open to everyone who visits Scotland 's canals this summer and captures the creatures on camera.
2008 Round Britain Powerboat Race Cruises into Inverness

The Caledonian Canal welcomed around 40 powerboats yesterday (Wednesday, 25 June 2008) as the 2008 Round Britain Powerboat Race reached its half-way point when some of the boats entered the canal at Corpach Sea Lock in Fort William while others took to the roads to reach Muirtown basin where they were craned into the canal.

Falkirk Gets Ready for 'Action Outdoors'

On Tuesday (3 June 2008) a turf cutting ceremony will signal the start of construction of the Action Outdoors project. The project is a partnership between The Waterways Trust Scotland , Falkirk Council and British Waterways Scotland to build a brand new activity centre for the Falkirk community to enjoy.
