Snap The Dragons

British Waterways has launched a UK-wide wildlife photography competition urging everyone to take snaps of dragonflies and damselflies - the dragons o' the water! The competition is open to everyone who visits Scotland 's canals this summer and captures the creatures on camera.

2008 Round Britain Powerboat Race Cruises into Inverness

The Caledonian Canal welcomed around 40 powerboats yesterday (Wednesday, 25 June 2008) as the 2008 Round Britain Powerboat Race reached its half-way point when some of the boats entered the canal at Corpach Sea Lock in Fort William while others took to the roads to reach Muirtown basin where they were craned into the canal.

On Wednesday 25 June, Lord Provost Denis Agnew will join 40 school children and community groups to celebrate the completion of a £163,000 project to improve 7km of towpath on the Forth & Clyde Canal stretching from Bowling Harbour to Whitecrook.
