Crinan
We are in discussions with Argyll and Bute Council to develop a masterplan for land and buildings in Ardrishaig and on the Crinan Canal . An opportunity exists to bring new life and vitality to rural areas beside the canal.
The Dalriada project aims to protect and promote the rich history and landscape of Knapdale and Kilmartin Glen in North Kintyre and Mid-Argyll. This area is steeped in natural heritage and under the project many important archaeological sites will be protected for future enjoyment. Native habitats will also be restored to create a continuous landscape of 100 square miles of woodland, water and coast. The Crinan Canal runs through the area and it is expected to become a year-round hive of activity and an artery into the project area following the development of leisure activities along it. In October 2005 the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) announced a Stage One* pass award for The Dalriada Project of £1.8 million pounds towards a total Landscape Partnership Scheme budget of £3.1 million. A further £145,500 was allocated for a Development Phase, at the end of which the Stage Two* bid was submitted. In February 2007 the HLF approved the Stage Two bid.
