Kennet & Avon Canal Lock Operations
British Waterways is working nationally to significantly reduce craft licence evasion. The number of unlicensed boats on the Kennet & Avon Canal is a concern. The South West business unit put together a series of proposals to combat licence evasion that included locking up and manning locks at either end of the navigation.
These proposals were published in April 2008 and sent to all licence holders on the Kennet & Avon Canal and people were invited to submit their comments. The report that appears below details the outcome of the public consultation and the revised plans that BW intends to adopt.
