Kennet & Avon Bicentenary

British Waterways is delighted to announce the start of its plans to celebrate the bicentenary of the Kennet & Avon Canal in 2010. Working in partnership with local authorities, the Kennet & Avon Canal Trust, the Kennet & Avon Trade Association and other local interested groups, plans for the celebrations include two iconic landmark sculptures for Bath and Reading, new orientation information panels at around 20 locations along the canal and the creation of a special limited edition photographic calendar. The calendar will feature 12 photographs taken along the canal during 2008 and 2009 taken by members of the public. You can enter the photographic competition through any of the following local papers: the Bath Chronicle, the Western Gazette & Herald, Newbury News and the 24Seven section of the Reading Evening Post.

Loads of projects and events to celebrate the bicentenary are planned and will be published on this site/page regularly.
