Restoration
Devoted volunteers and the role they have played, combined with British Waterway's success of securing funding and working closely with many partners, have kept waterway restoration alive.
British Waterways' vision is of an extended network which offers more people better access to the waterways and their heritage. The focus of our regeneration team is to raise the public funds required for the physical improvements needed to support our regeneration aims, thus allowing our core income to be directed at ensuring out current network of waterways is properly maintained and safe to use.
British Waterways' Active Priority Restoration Projects
- Bow Back Rivers
- Droitwich Canals
- Liverpool Link
- Manchester, Bolton & Bury Canal
- Montgomery Canal (Phase 1 - England; Phase 2 - Wales)
- Northern Reaches
Restoration is only made possible by working in partnership with many organisations including the Heritage Lottery Fund, Regional Development Agencies, Local Authorities, Canal Trusts, the European Union, English Partnerships, The Waterways Trust, as well as many more groups and individuals.
Looking ahead, we will continue to promote the benefits which are direct outcomes of canal restoration schemes.
